So the mouse leptin knockout exists and is useful for looking at diabetes. How would you anticipate the rat phenotype to be different?

It would be great if Leptin KO rats develop atherosclerosis. I would guess that they may also acquire type 2 diabetes. In either case I would prefer to have a larger model for the volume of fluid and tissue. Atherosclerotic rats will be a closer approximation to humans and the damage that excess glucose inflicts on organs will be more apparent in rats than in mice.
