A rat expressing cre under a promoter specific for neural progenitor cells, such as nestin promoter, would be great to have. Has homologous recombination, essential to conditional KO, been shown to work in rat embryos? Just curious, since it has not yet worked in rat ES cells, as far as I know.

Our R&D team(unpublished results) have shown this to work in embryos. We are currently tackling a larger proof of concept. Would be interested to hear thoughts on what type of studies you'd do with the nestin promoter. What gene would you want flanked with loxp?
